My first computer came with 2MB of RAM, not enough to run the software for my internet service provider, so I had it upgraded to 8MB...I'm sure it was not cheap. This computer came with Windows 3.1 and over the years I upgraded it to Windows 95 and eventually Windows 98. I also eventually maxed it out at 32MB of RAM (only one RAM slot worked, or it would have been 64 MB.
Like some of you, to avoid any potential issues with Y2K, I paid for an upgraded BIOS chip.
During this time, I was living with my parents who had moved to West Virginia. I got some books and started to teach myself about computer hardware.
Over the years, buying used hardware on eBay and learning more about each new operating system and device led to where I am today.
I truly believe God has given me these abilities and the resources to meet people where they are in their need for devices.
Over the years, I was given a Palm pilot, added a phone module, upgraded to a Visor, then Treo, then Androids. I did some moding of early androids, often getting the best deal used online or as a free upgrade from T-Mobile, where I have stayed since my first phone well over 20 years ago.
Thanks to PC Retro, I started buying used PCs in 2001 after I moved to the DC metro area. This included laptops, tablets, learning all about wifi, and doing data transfers and more.
As of this date, I have worked on all kinds of Apple, PC, Android, and Linux devices as well as smartwatches and tablets.
